Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU) membuka kampanye pemilu yang ditandai dengan grand launching pencanangan kampanye damai pemilu Indonesia 2009 yang dihelat di Hall D2 Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) Kemayoran kemarin. 50 orang perwakilan parpol, termasuk para ketua umum berhak untuk memberikan orasi singkat sekitar 2-3 menit mengenai ikrar kampanye damai tersebut.

Setiap hari, KPU menetapkan rata-rata empat parpol akan melakukan kampanye dalam bentuk rapat umum di setiap provinsi, kecuali Provinsi Bali. Satu hal yang selalu didengung-dengungkan oleh KPU adalah setiap parpol yang melakukan kampanye pemilu harus mengingat slogan Kampanye Damai Pemilu Indonesia 2009 agar tidak terjadi hal-hal yang melewati batas.
